Triple M and NSW assistant coach Peter Sterling has revealed he was disappointed he didn’t follow his gut more in regards to a couple of decisions he made.

"Maybe I should have pushed a little harder... [regarding] selections of a couple of players before Game 1," said Sterlo, on Triple M Dead Set Legends

"I’m not going to name anybody because that would be disrespectful to those [people], but you know I wavered on a couple of things I shouldn’t have done." Listen to the full audio at the bottom of the page.

Sterlo admitted he was both "surprised" and "disappointed" surrounding the reported alcohol issues throughout Origin camp.

“I didn’t see an alcohol issue throughout any of the three camps," he said.

"We would sit around in the bar of an evening and have a couple of beers and have a chat about how the camp was going and what we thought was doing but I never saw any drinking to excess. The news of a couple of players maybe having too much to drink before that third game, I only found out afterwards.

“There were reports today about a room in the second camp at Star City, I didn’t see any of that. A lot of it is news to me.

"Whether I’m naïve I don’t know, whether I was blinkered I don’t know but I certainly didn’t leave any of those thinking that the alcohol situation needs to be attended too."
