Triple M Footy's Damian Barrett has explained the secret trial of new rules between the AFL and Hawthorn at Etihad Stadium over the weekend.
LISTEN TO DAMO:
“The Hawthorn footy club last weekend trialled at Etihad Stadium some new rules,” he told Triple M's Rush Hour with Jars and Louie.
Barrett said a bunch of new rules were tested by the Hawks to see how they fared, with an eye to possibly including them in the AFL in the future.
He also said there was some "eyebrow-raising from other clubs" who didn't have the advantage of being involved.
“There were lots of things changed and trialled…(but) there’s a little bit of eyebrow-raising from other clubs now that they know this has happened,” he said.
“It was just the AFL and Hawthorn and a few officials I think it’s got to the stage where it’s an all-in competition situation.
“I think if we’re going to fix the game up…next time they should include all people, at least to be able to watch what goes on.”
