The Murrumbidgee Local Health District, together with NSW Health Infrastructure, has agreed to fund the necessary upgrade of the Temora and District Hospital Operating Theatre.

It comes after community backlash prompted the MLHD Board to dump it's original proposal to shut down the operating theatre, and send patients to nearby Cootamundra, Young or Wagga hospitals.

Temora Shire Mayor Rick Firman and General Manager Gary Lavelle say they were delighted to receive written confirmation from MLHD Chief Jill Ludford, that the organisation will undertake the essential works.

Mr. Lavelle says the future of the theatre is assured, and there are now opportunities for growth in surgical services at the hospital.
