A massive drug bust in Strathdickie has landed one man in custody. Police attended a property last week finding three cannabis crops estimated to be worth more than a $1M. They had been called out by fire crews to a blaze that had broken out on Laurie Drive Friday afternoon. Police allege they found three large separate crops including more than two hundred and seventy mature plants between 1.6 and 1.8 metres tall. They further allege they also found another 2.5kgs stashed around the property

 

Central Queensland Hospital and Health Services has lost out to Mackay. It was part of a challenge between the two, logging steps, weight and measurement. Running for 16 weeks Mackay's HHS lost 206kgs compared to Rockhampton's 186. Competitor Bernadette Barry says there's no reason the community can’t continue to be fitter and healthier

Council's Ordinary Council meeting is getting underway in Mackay today. They'll be discussing round one of community grants, name and branding for the Sports Precinct, and the monthly Mayor CEO report will be tabled

Pioneer Swim Club is riding the wave. Kicking off Mackay's long-course season with a two-day Transition Meet over the weekend. Hosting almost a hundred and eighty swimmers with clubs from as far away as Townsville and Rockhampton. President Lee parkes said they can thank the NQ GAMES for the spike in attendance

 

A stellar performance for a Mackay teenager in Townsville. Rebekah Stanley competed at the National Junior Table Tennis Championships recently. Despite coming second to fifteen year old Parleen Kaur she earned enough merit to be named most outstanding under 18 female player. The eighteen year old will age out of the junior competition after the World Junior Championships in Bendigo in December
