Greater Shepparton City Council are introducing electronic parking payment system, PayStay, from July 2, 2018.
The system will allow parking to be much easier and more convenient for shoppers by downloading an app to pay for parking electronically. Forget the loose change or parking tickets when you can now pay for the parking you actually use.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Kim O'Keeffee said this is a great alternative to those with smart phones.
“After listening to the community and wanting to make parking easier, Council have introduced this new facility so shoppers have a more convenient way to pay for parking.
“This app is also used by Melbourne City Council, Port Phillip City Council, Wangaratta and Bendigo City Council. So shoppers can pay for parking not only here locally, but when they are in Melbourne or Bendigo,” said Cr O’Keeffe.
To pay for parking, shoppers can simply download the PayStay app and upload funds to pay for parking. The only thing to look out for is clicking the stop button once you're finished using the parking spot, otherwise you'll be charged the full time parking zone.
But don't throw your spare change away! Council will still be accepting coins at all parking metres. PayStay provides an alternative payment option for those who prefer using the app.
